7 Tips To Make Your Blog Posts More Readable

7-Tips-To-Make-Your-Blog-Posts-More-Readable
Whether you have a blog or a website to communicate with your clients online, you want your posts to be read by as many people as possible. Online marketing tools are now crucial in building rapport with the target audience, who can share your content and further advertise your services. If you’re worried that your posts are hardly noticeable in the web, here are some tips you might want to consider next time you publish something.

1.) Don’t Make Your Posts Too Long:

Nothing bores a reader more than a never-ending story. Unless you’re a specialist in a technical field of study and your readers will use your website for research, try to be as concise as possible. Think of all the points you want to make and leave behind all the unnecessary information. To do that, imagine yourself being your reader. What sort of content are they looking for?

2.) Don’t Make Spelling And Grammar Errors:

Respect your readers enough to spend an extra minute proofreading your work. An average reader might hardly notice a minor error once in a while, but posts riddled with mistakes will most certainly be the reason people won’t read your posts.

3.) Do Use Pictures:

A photo or a graph can make a better point than a thousand words. Can you imagine describing the stunning views in Australia without embedding a photo you took while on a trip there? Furthermore, if your post is rather long, a photo will break up your content and keep the reader interested.

4.) Do Stay Coherent:

It’s handy, especially for your audience, if you use a metaphor or two to make a point. Don’t float too far away from the original topic of your post, because your readers might have a problem keeping on track with what you are trying to say. Remain succinct, and keep your language suitable to your audience.

5.) Do Use Headlines And Sub-Headers:

Most books have chapters to make the content clear to the reader, and in most cases, each chapter touches on a different theme or topic. A blog or website post can also benefit from chapters, sub-headings, with separate points sectioned together.

6.) Do Use Keywords, But Don’t Use Too Many:

Don’t underestimate your readers and don’t insult their intelligence by writing text with a bunch of keywords and links that are not relevant to the story you are telling. Keyword stuffing won’t put you in favor with your readers, or Google. Place relevant keywords naturally throughout your article to guide users through the content.

7.) Do Be Yourself:

Don’t write about stuff you absolutely know nothing, or very little about. Unless you’re an expert in your field, don’t give specialized advice. Be the best in what you do and what you know and people will follow your website.

Recent research has shown that an average online reader only goes through about one third of a blog post, so if you’re still here, we’ve done a pretty good job. Now look at your website and consider whether you should rethink the way you write your posts to enhance your online footfall.
