Calculate The Marks Percentage Of Your Exam With A Simple Formula

Calculate-The-Marks-Percentage-Of-Your-Exam-With-A-Simple-Formula
A percentage is a quantity or ratio expressed as a fraction of a hundredth of a whole number or one-hundredth of a whole number. Percentages do not have any physical dimensions in the traditional sense. In mathematics, the number 100 is the basis of calculating the percentage.

When calculating the percentage, divide the required number by the actual amount and multiply the result by 100 to get the final figure.

[(value given/total value)*100] is the formula for the calculation of marks percentage.

The term ‘percent’ comes from the word ‘percentage.’ If you split this word in half, you’ll obtain the words per and cent. Centum is a Latin word that means hundred. You may find its roots in a variety of languages, including French, Latin, and Italian.

Specifically, a percentage represents the number of times something occurs in a certain number of occurrences. The upshot of this is that when someone speaks of 25 per cent, they say that it is 25 percent of a hundred.

Percentage Formula:

Let’s look at how to use the Percentage Formula to calculate or determine the percentage:

Percentage = (Actual Value / Max Value) * 100

Examples:

(60/100)*100 = 60%
(50/100)*100 = 50%
(69/100)*100 = 69%
(25/100)*100 = 25%
(20/100)*100 = 20%

Tips And Tricks:

  • Calculation of Marks Percentage of the maximum value, which is 100, is a straightforward process.
  • Using numbers ranging from 1 to 100, you may quickly calculate the result.
  • For example, if the number 36 is used, the percentage is expressed as 36%.

Example:

I have got 60 marks in my maths examination out of 100, so what’s my percentage of math marks?

By applying the simple formula, we can calculate this.

Percentage = (Actual Value / Max Value) * 100
Marks  obtained = 60
Maximum marks = 100
Percentage = ?
So,  Percentage = (Actual Value / Max Value) * 100
Percentage = (Actual Value(60) / Max Value(100)) * 100
= (60/100) * 100
=(0.6) * 100
= 60

Then, the percentage of math marks is 100.

We’ve already discussed how to compute the percent formula using the real and maximum values. So let’s move on to how to calculate the actual value of the percentage, with the maximum value being 100. Let’s also evaluate how to compute the actual value of the percentage.

So the formula will we like this:

Actual value = (Percentage * Max Value ) / 100

Example:

I have got 79% marks in my science exam out of 100%, so that is my actual mark.

So we have data as,

Percentage = 60%
Max percentage = 100%
Actual Marks= ?
By applying the formula
Actual value = (Percentage * Max Value ) / 100
Actual value = (Percentage(60) * Max Value(100) ) / 100
= (60*100)/100
=(6000)/100
=60

So, my science marks are 60 out of 100.

Here, we calculate the % and real value as though the maximum value is 100; when the maximum value is 100, calculating the percentage and actual value is straightforward. We will now learn how to compute the percentage, total amount, and maximum if the maximum value is different from the maximum value.

Let’s take an example, “Hari paid the price for glass is 30$ and the max price is 120$ so what’s the percentage that Hair has got a discount.”

Here, the data is,

Price paid = 30
Max price = 120, the max value is not 100, so we can’t calculate easily by the previous trick.
Now let's apply the formula.
So, Actual value = 30
Max value = 120
Percentage = ?
So, percentage = (Actual Value(30) / Max Value(120) * 100
=(30/120) * 100
= 0.25 * 100
= 25

So 25 % is the amount that Hari has paid, and Hari Has got the discount of 100-25= 75%

Let’s now compute the real value of the percentage and the maximum value, assuming either of these values is provided in the data.

Now consider the following scenario: ” Deepu received 78 per cent in his previous test; the total number of topics was 6, and each subject received 100 per cent of the maximum possible grade. First, calculate the marks that Deepu received in the most recent examination.

So to calculate the marks of Deepu, let’s collect the data.

Percentage = 78 %
Max value = 6*100 = 600
By applying the formula of:
Actual value = (Percentage * Max Value ) / 100
Actual value = (Percentage(78) * Max Value(600) ) / 100
= (78*600)/100
=(46800)/100
=468

So Deepu got 468 marks in his last exam.

If you want to cross-check with the marks and percentage, then you can, let’s apply the percentage formula.

Percentage = (Actual Value(468) / Max Value(600) * 100
=(468/600)*100
= (0.78) * 100
= 78

So share your percentage that is 78%, so that you can cross-check with an answer like this.

Now, if the % and the actual amount are provided, let’s determine the maximum value.

Example:

“Mohan received 85% marks in his previous test; the total number of points he received was 510; thus, calculate the total number of points he may get in the exam.”

So let’s calculate the max amount by applying the formula.

Max value = (Actual value * 100)/ Percentage
Max value = (Actual value(510) * 100)/ Percentage (85)
=(510*100)/85
=(51000)/85
=600

So here are the full marks that Mohan can get, that is 600.

Conclusion

We hope you have grasped the concept of calculating your test marks and percentages and the maximum number of points that you may get. There are just a few basic formulas and percentage examples in this section. It will undoubtedly assist you in the computation of percentages. It is not the end of your % trip; there are additional formulas and variations of percentage computation to learn, but the foundation will remain the same as what you have learned so far.
